This Sunday we will spend some time with Psalm 23 and with 1 Peter 2:19-25, where Peter talks about Jesus as the Guardian of the Soul.  Psalm 23 is a familiar favorite for many: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Not because wanting is bad, but because there is nothing to want anymore. The 23rd Psalm speaks of a someday when the deepest longings, the strongest wantings are satisfied by a relationship with the divine, with Someone bigger than anything our minds can comprehend.  I look forward to contemplating scripture with you this Sunday and to offering an opportunity to be anointed with oil, another reference to Psalm 23.
