​With the season of Advent we begin a new worship series called "Angels Among Us," and its focus on the first words angels say to those they greet: "Do not be afraid."   During this season we will look at the stories of angels visiting Zechariah, Mary, Joseph, and the Shepherds.  And then, we will consider what messages we can offer that will fly in the face of a culture of fear to bring more hope, more peace, more joy, and more love to the world.  This Sunday we will begin with the angelic visit to Zechariah and the message he receives that he and his barren wife Elizabeth will have a child who will prepare the way for the coming Messiah.  While their child-bearing potential seems hopeless, the angel's message fills them with hope for their future AND for the future of the world.
